Stake.com-Supported Kick to Invest $200M on Bringing New Content Creators

The streaming platform competition could be intensifying soon. A tweet by Kick co-founder Ed Craven indicates that the Kick rival could spend massive amounts of money to unseat its competitor. The connections Kick and Craven share with online gaming platform Stake.com could be helpful.

After securing million-dollar deals with streamers like xQc and Amouranth, it appears that Kick intends to keep spending. The site's co-founder revealed on Twitter that "the best days of streaming are yet to come."

Craven seems to have ambitious plans to recruit more streaming talent, no matter the cost. In light of growing global regulations, a more cautious approach may be needed.

A New Streaming Crown Awaits

Craven has expressed confidence in Kick's ability to dethrone Twitch and its cat races. However, some users aren't convinced that things will go so smoothly for the platform.

Despite not being solicited for his opinion, one user recently argued that it was a blunder to give xQc a multimillion-dollar deal since he streamed more on Twitch than on Kick. To this, Craven, whose Stake.com is looking to acquire Rush Street Interactive, teased major changes ahead for the platform.

xQc's $100 mil deal is a mistake he streams more on twitch than he does on kick. If I was you, I'd try to find a way to void the contract as soon as possible. Also, start signing smaller/mid-sized streamers instead. It's better to sign 100 streamers for $1 mil each than 1 for $100 mil

Craven revealed that Kick intends to offer $1 million contracts to 100 individuals. Additionally, it has set aside an extra $100K for 1,000 more contracts.

Kick has its sights set on bringing in as many creators as possible. To this end, it has emphasized its commitment to paying streamers fairly for their efforts on the platform.

The strategy seems to be paying off, as the number of viewers continues to grow. Streamscharts.com data discloses that the average number of viewers for the week of February 16-23 was 39,558. The average for June 29 to July 6 was 134,654, but it has since decreased slightly. It's currently around 112,649.

It's also likely that Kick will attract celebrities who haven't yet dabbled in streaming or content creation. One such possible candidate is NBA legend Shaquille O'Neal, who expressed interest in becoming a part of Kick during a Squadcast podcast a few days ago if the platform offered him enough money.

Shaq said, "They pay him $50 million just to play video games? ... [xQc] is in trouble because I'm about to come after him. So, he just turns the camera on, and people just watch him? ... I might have to look into that."

Kick It with Alfa Romeo

The Formula 1 Belgian Grand Prix is set to take place this weekend, weather permitting. This event could provide another boost for Kick in terms of attention. Kick's neon green logo is already linked to Alfa Romeo's esports teams through a partnership, and it's now time for the logo to appear at the vehicle manufacturer's presence in Belgium.

Kick will feature on the racing team's customized livery, according to a press release. It will be visible on uniforms and cars.

However, Kick's progress could come to a halt with a single misstep, such as a kick. Social media has lately been buzzing with a video of Kick streamer Suspendas. In the video, he allegedly kicked a cat that jumped onto his bed while he was attempting to sleep.

That video has been removed from Kick, but there are others that showcase why legislators are attempting to control streaming platforms. For example, Suspendas allegedly attempted to connect with an underage girl in Nepal in a stream that was posted on the platform. He was later detained in connection with this attempt.

He also allegedly had sex while broadcasting a livestream. What makes this incident even worse, according to comments in the thread that followed, was the presence of a minor in the room at the time.
