Senate gathering and protest - St. Pauli ascends the town hall balcony.
Celebrating Promotion: St. Pauli on Town Hall Balcony
As fans noticed the second division champs gather on the left side of the Rathausbalkon, they eagerly rushed to celebrate the occasion. Fan Karol Mets waved a cardboard championship trophy. This impromptu act caught everyone's attention. The St. Pauli squad spent about five minutes on the balcony.
Prior to the gathering on the balcony, the city's mayor, Peter Tschentscher (58), bestowed them with a brown and white Hamburg flag. He expressed his excitement about the promotion, "This is a present to our team members, fans, and all soccer fans in Hamburg. Today the brown and white flag adorns the town hall. Hamburg is proud of you. Good luck in the first Bundesliga."
Following short addresses from the supervisory board head, Sandra Schwedler (43), and the Interior and Sports Senator, Andy Grote (55), and a teamwide song about being number one, Jackson Irvine stepped up to the microphone.
The team's leader expressed their gratitude, "We're truly honored to be here. This moment is unique and happening in such a significant location. This victory is our just reward."
