It's not all about beans and garlic. - Some foods induce gas production in the body.

The culprits of stinky farts are commonly known as eggs and beans, but other foods can also contribute to the smell.

🔥 Among these are beef and pork, which contain the amino acid methionine, a sulfur-based substance that transforms into hydrogen sulfide during digestion. The lengthy process of digesting fatty meat can take up to two days, resulting in prolonged fermentation in the colon.

🔥 Garlic and onions are chock-full of fructans (fructose-containing sugars) that our digestive system struggles to break down. In the colon, bacteria feast on these vegetables and create foul-smelling gas.

🔥 Chicken meat is laden with sulfur-containing amino acids like methionine and cysteine. Fried chicken, in particular, has a high-fat content. This slows down digestion and lengthens the fermentation time in the colon.

🔥 Artificial sweeteners like stevia and aspartame are not easily digested and can yield gases such as hydrogen, methane, and hydrogen sulfide. Corn syrup, derived from genetically modified corn, is frequently used as a cheaper sugar alternative in processed foods. Its high-fructose content can lead to severe flatulence and diarrhea.

🔥 Fiber-rich foods like broccoli, asparagus, and cabbage are beneficial for our health, but they do take longer to digest. Thus, they also take more time to ferment in the colon. Additionally, they contain sulfur, which results in a terrible stench during the passage of gas.

Stinky farts are just a part of life: We all emit them an average of 13 to 21 times a day, both consciously and unconsciously, at speeds of up to 11 kilometers per hour!

Suppressing them is not recommended. They indicate that our body wants to release gas. Failing to do so can cause discomfort or pain: The pressure in the abdomen increases, causing cramps or pain. ☝️
