Markus Söder frequents the VIP section at FC Bayern games in the Munich Arena. The Bavarian leader has rarely witnessed losses for this top team during his visits to the stadium. However, Söder isn't pleased with the current situation, beginning with Bayern's unsuccessful quest for a new coach.
Initially, Rangnick was rumored to be a contender for the position left by Thomas Tuchel. Yet he rejected the offer, preferring to fulfill his contract with the Austrian national team. Other frontrunners, such as Xabi Alonso and Julian Nagelsmann, also turned down Bayern.
Fielding no personal ambitions for the coaching spot, Söder nonetheless has a clear vision for the person to fill it from the summer. He values a coach with a strong presence and an understanding of psychology, accompanied by the board's support. Söder expressed regret over Bayern's decision to part ways with Tuchel at the end of the season earlier than anticipated.
He criticized the ongoing alterations in the search for a replacement coach by the Munich management. "No other club would continually debate the next candidate," remarked Söder. He attributed this state of affairs to Bayern's "unfortunate trajectory" in recent times. The 57-year-old further drew a parallel between his own politics and the situation at FC Bayern: "Both are full of drama at every step," he said.
