Beyoncé is one of the 40 personalities selected to be a part of the updated version of this encyclopedic dictionary. Her name is referred to as a noun, and her entry states: "American R&B and pop singer."
This year, 150 new names and words were selected by a jury to be added to the Larousse dictionary. These entries should represent "concerns, developments, or strong movements" of the year, explains the director. These individuals must also align with the values of the Petit Larousse, which includes "excellence and the promotion of French culture."
Other Notable Mentions
Other notable figures added to the Larousse dictionary this year include actress Cate Blanchett, 54, basketball player LeBron James, 39, and film director Christopher Nolan, 53.
