Anja Windl shares news. - Shakira's donkey consumes environmental violation warning.

This woman has spent time in prison in Munich and Vienna, and she's about to be locked up again. She's been given what's called "primary prison sentences" along with other climate criminals from her generation. Her reasoning for being unable to pay the fines for her sticker blockades is that they're just too many. How many, you ask? She guesses it's over 10,000 euros.

But when will she go to prison? "I don't know exactly when," she says, a Bavarian resident with the nickname Klima-Shakira due to her resemblance to Colombian singer Shakira. She's currently studying in Graz.

She hasn't lost her sense of humor though. She posted a video of her and her donkey, Lara, on Instagram. She's holding the Austrian arrest letter in her hand and jokingly asks, "I brought Lara something. Yes, look, does the primary arrest taste good? It doesn't taste that good, does it? But it's a bit ...!" Her caption then read, "I don't think I can start the primary arrest. Has eaten donkey. Can't do anything about it."

It seems that even with an appeal in place against these so-called primary prison sentences, she's not too concerned. After all, her fight for the environment won't stop until she's physically unable to carry it out. She has been sentenced to 2,400 euros in Regensburg for blocking a BMW plant there in 2023.

In Germany, there's been more tension with the justice system: Windl was recently sentenced to 80 times 30 euros in Regensburg for her actions in 2023.

But Windl's not bothered by any of this. "My battle for the environment will continue as long as I can and am not in prison. The fight for the climate is a crucial task. Of course I'm afraid of going to prison, but the government's inaction on climate change scares me much more."

Anja Windl (front) has now been sentenced by the local court for this sticking action in front of the BMW plant in Regensburg on August 22, 2023
