Visiting and exploring places for leisure or pleasure. - Several holiday accommodations were reserved during the European Football Championship tournament period.

At the German European Championship football training camp in Weimarer Land, certain local tourism businesses are seeing a surge in bookings. Vacation rentals, guesthouses, and campsites near Blankenhain - the training venue - are especially packed, reports the Weimarer Land Tourism Association. Conversely, other parts of Weimarer Land, such as Bad Sulza and Apolda, are not as busy.

The DFB team is scheduled to arrive in Blankenhain, near Weimar, on Sunday for a week-long training camp at a golf hotel, while England's squad will follow suit on June 10th to set up camp there for their own European Championship preparations.

Although the hotel complex where the teams will stay will be off-limits during their stay and closely guarded, the Thuringian government is crossing their fingers that the publicity surrounding the soccer event will boost tourism. Close to 250 journalists have been granted credentials for the training camp. Thuringia's development agency has arranged excursions for these press members, showcasing significant Thuringian landmarks.

Thuringian tourism professionals have observed that fan interest in following their teams has been relatively low so far. For instance, no noticeable influx of English soccer fans has been seen in Weimar, one of Thuringia's key tourist destinations. Instead of exploring the area around the European Championship quarters, fans likely prioritize the venues where their team will play in the championships. Overall, bookings during the European Championship period are on the upswing, but May and June are usually popular months for city and culture trips, anyway.

Thuringia and Brandenburg are the only eastern German states that have accommodations to welcome European Championship attendees. Meanwhile, Croatia's team plans to stay in Neuruppin, Brandenburg, during the European Championships.
