Seven suspects face charges in Pittsburgh River Casino melee

Authorities recently released the name of a Pennsylvania man arrested after a fight at Pittsburgh's River Casino earlier this month. All were banned from entering the casino again.

The conflict broke out around 10:30 p.m. June 9th. The conflict began when two different groups entered the lobby restroom.

The altercation continued inside the casino before being broken up by security forces and state police.

Soldier injured

Two elderly casino patrons were hit and fell from their chairs during an argument. It was unclear whether they were injured.

A state trooper was injured while trying to arrest a suspect. Details of his injuries were not released. Other soldiers were also attacked during the fighting.

State police said the suspects "punched and kicked each other in a violent and erratic manner, showing a clear disregard for public safety."

The fight also resulted in someone prying open the bathroom stall door. Bathroom faucets and fixtures were also damaged, according to state police.

The suspects knew each other before the fight, Pennsylvania station WPXI reported. Apparently they were upset about an unknown problem. Pennsylvania television station WTAE reported that two participants appeared to be fighting over a pile of cash during the fight.

Suspect identified

Casino surveillance cameras captured various scenes of punches and kicks, and state police reviewed the video before making the arrests.

Security personnel were on scene within seconds and the problem was quickly resolved. " Jack Horner, a spokesman for Pittsburgh's Rivers Casino, told WPXI. "The individual involved has been banned for life. "

State police did not immediately announce charges against the suspect, but the case will be transferred to district court for prosecution.

The suspects were identified as Kaheem Sturdivant, 22, Lance Chatman, 24, and Jaison England, 21. Everyone lives in Pittsburgh.

Also charged are Latrell Childs, 21, and Terrell Childs, 22, both of Swissvale. Devon Allison, 23, of Monroeville, and Kyshem Woods, 21, of Munhall, were also charged. It's unclear if anyone else will be arrested in connection with the incident.

The ban on re-entering a casino is enforced by gambling venue security and is not the same as a voluntary self-exclusion.

Previous Casino War

In March, four suspects were also arrested in connection with an unrelated fight at Pittsburgh's River Casino. State and local police and casino security broke up the fight. A Pennsylvania state trooper was punched in the face during a fight that sent one of the suspects crashing into a wall.
