Showing bravery and determination - Seoane is organizing the first ever salvage operation for a football.
This Saturday (at 3:30 p.m. on Sky), Borussia Mönchengladbach will take on Eintracht Frankfurt in a crucial match that could help them avoid relegation. If they win, Gladbach won't be able to drop to the 16th position anymore.
Gladbach's coach, Gerardo Seoane, who's 45 years old, spoke about the importance of this game: "The only thing that matters is that we finish the season. It's been a challenging season."
As the game kicks off, two players will be given a heartfelt farewell. Tony Jantschke, who's 34 years old, and Patrick Herrmann, who's 33, are both retiring this summer. This will no doubt evoke a lot of emotions not only among players but also fans in the arena.
However, there's also the fear of relegation that many supporters have after only winning once in their last nine games. Seoane aims to reassure his players and not let them succumb to such fears.
He said, "We saw the uncertainty among the players during our game against Union. But last week against Bremen, the team showed a good reaction. You grow through experience when it comes to dealing with mental pressure. Don't let yourselves be preoccupied with fears, instead, be bold and attacking."
Seoane emphasized that the team needs to focus on their tasks and not frequently check the scores from other games. "We'll be under pressure defensively against Frankfurt. But we should still be brazen and confident in our attacks. And also have a solid defensive counter-attacking game."
A farewell for two sports giants
Seoane has been quiet about the player line-up, but it's clear that Alassane Plea, a 31-year-old striker, is now fit again after suffering from an ankle injury during the Bremen game. Jonas Omlin, a 30-year-old goalkeeper, is also expected to rejoin the team following muscle issues.
Keep in mind, the final home match of the Bundesliga season at the sold-out Borussia-Park will be one filled with emotions!
