Moving aside, I'm currently on task. - Security boss faced court for playing a phony officer role.

On August 25, 2023, Burmeister was driving to address an alarm activation in his company car. "I accidentally took a shortcut through Lange Straße and realized later that I was going the wrong way," admits Burmeister. Quick-thinking residents intervened and stopped him.

Resident and his son halted the security boss

74-year-old Hans-Jürgen M.: "In our neighborhood, people often disobey traffic rules. I stopped the driver and informed him that he was driving against the flow of traffic. He then shared that he was on a time-sensitive mission. I also noticed a small blue light in the vehicle."

Not long after, Burmeister's son, 45-year-old engineer Mario M., approaches the security chief in another car. He snaps a photo to serve as proof. The security chief, acting as though he were a police officer, politely but firmly requested clearance. The situation seemed bizarre to Mario, so he reported it.

Pensioner Hans-Jürgen M. (74) and his son Mario (45) testified as witnesses in the trial

Veit Burmeister: "I don't have blue lights in my car; maybe the interior lighting appeared blue, which can come in various hues. I'd never pretend to be a police officer, but I clearly stated I was there for the alarm. Perhaps I was simply misunderstood."

The presiding judge, Nicole Jena (58), was understanding, allowing the businessman, who has no prior convictions, to avoid charges by paying a €350 fine to a charitable organization. The case at Hoyerswerda District Court (Saxony) was subsequently dropped.
