More than twice as potent as Ozempic. - Scientists create a novel fat removal syringe.

Roche's new drug, CT-388, injected once a week, shows promising results with participants losing around 19% of their body weight in 5.5 months. This exceeds the weight reduction achieved by Semaglutide, the active ingredient in drugs like Wegovy and Ozempic, which is around ten percent after six months. Additionally, CT-388 has been found to be effective in combating diabetes as well, with symptoms improving in all 31 participants of the study. Different from Ozempic and Wegovy, CT-388 mimics two hunger-inhibiting hormones, possibly making it more effective. However, the downside is that it has similar side effects such as nausea and vomiting. Roche has not yet announced when CT-388 will be available for purchase.

The weight loss injection craze has sent pharmaceutical company shares skyrocketing. Roche, along with Novo Nordisk, manufacturer of Ozempic, experienced significant increases in their share prices following the announcement of their new drugs. As the summer approaches, demand for slimming products grows, creating a lucrative market for companies to satisfy.

Due to high demand, shortages in some products like Wegovy have arisen in the US. This boom in weight loss injections presents an opportunity for companies to expand their supply and meet the increased need.
