Prior to the league final, a burst of catchphrases erupted. - Schlotterbeck appointed new leader at Bochum.

Currently, Keven Schlotterbeck (27) from Bochum will need to go back to his original team, SC Freiburg, during the summer. Nonetheless, VfL plans to secure him permanently if they manage to save the club. Not only is Schlotterbeck remarkable on the field (with 5 goals and 3 assists), but he is also playing a significant role in both the locker room and in front of the cameras.

Schlotterbeck set to lead Bochum!

It only took Schlotti ten seconds after the 5-0 loss at home to Leverkusen yesterday evening to comment on VfL's situation: "I'm angry about my own performance, but frankly, I don't care. That game doesn't matter to me."

He urged everyone to move past the loss and concentrate on the final game against Werder next week. Obtaining a single point would spare relegation for VfL: "We'll showcase the VfL style on the field - that's a given." He hopes to see a sea of blue and white supporters present in Bremen next week: "I'd love for 50,000 Bochum fans to show up and take over the stadium as much as possible."

If VfL loses the final game, they can still remain in the league if Mainz (15th) fails to score in Wolfsburg or Union (16th) fails to win against Freiburg.

To encourage his Freiburg teammates, Schlotterbeck promises, "I might buy them all a glass of beer or a cocktail in Malle if they come support me there."

Freiburg's support is crucial for Bochum

However, relying on help from outside the club has proven challenging. VfL witnessed this firsthand on Saturday when Dortmund suffered a 3-0 defeat at Mainz, with Nico Schlotterbeck (24), Keven's brother, being the only regular to start the match. Nico didn't hold back, and Schlotterbeck stood up for him: "One team wants him (Bayer, ed.), the other doesn't. From a distance, the boys should wonder what they displayed there."

He did defend his brother Nico, who gave his all in the game: "I'm proud of his efforts."
