A royal blue explosion. - Schalke settles the matter of their beloved player, Fährmann.
The Royal Blues are experiencing difficulty in maintaining their footing following their disastrous season, narrowly avoiding relegation in the final stages. The revolving door of players and coaches is spinning at an unbelievable pace, with new names emerging every hour in search of different opportunities.
In case you forget: Matriciani, Mohr, and Tempelmann were informed on Monday that the club will no longer work with them. Before this, it was abundantly clear that Terodde, Latza, Ouwejan, Brunner, Idrizi, van der Sloot, and Langer had already cleared out their lockers.
Moreover, Drexler and Baumgartl, who encountered issues in the past, will no longer have a future at Schalke. Both have been transferred to the amateurs and signed for contracts until 2025.
Associate coaches Mike Büskens (56) and Matthias Kreutzer (41) will also be sidelined. The goalkeeping coach, Simon Henzler (47), is also required to leave.
An extreme makeover at Schalke - and yet another player is being left out!
It's not the first time there's been conflict between the club and Fährmann. When he was injured during the previous season, substitute goalkeeper Marius Müller (30) took over the position and performed admirably, causing him to maintain his spot as the starting goalkeeper.
Justin Heekeren (23) is anticipated to resume training on June 24, acting as Fährmann's substitute. He has been on loan to Belgian club Patro Eisden Maasmechelen (2nd division) since January, where he became their regular goalkeeper.
Notably, Schalke's 2024/25 season will barely resemble the nearly relegated squad from the previous year - at least in terms of personnel.
