"The Movie 'Imaginary Friends' Is a Favorite" - Ryan Reynolds had a ghostly sidekick!
This story centers around a young girl who can see and interact with others' imaginary friends. The film "Imaginary Friends" is a creation by actor-filmmaker Krasinski, inspired by his own children.
Krasinski, father of two girls (8 and 10 years old) with Emily Blunt, shares that his children have had imaginary friends, which served as the springboard for this creative endeavor. Ryan Reynolds, star of the film, too, had an imaginary companion as a child.
Reynolds states that his imaginary friend, named "Gumbi," helped him escape from a reality where he felt like a target among his three older brothers. "Gumbi" held a similar role for him, functioning as a safe space and providing respite from his daily life. Reynolds recalls that "Gumbi" resembled a vampire-like creature and only stuck around for a year. His older brother had his imaginary friend for a much longer time - an anthropomorphic bear.
Krasinski also had a childhood imaginary friend called "Sam Braces." He explains that he wanted braces, and it was his fantasy to have them, till he realized that they were not as enjoyable as he'd initially thought. Braces can be uncomfortable, and he soon discovered that the fantasy didn't live up to its promise.
