Ukraine experiences a day just like ours on Saturdays – individuals go grocery shopping and head to their homes to fix or renovate something. This is true for their second largest city, Kharkiv.
Soon after 4 pm, Russia hurls a glide bomb at a residential area hardware store. Right in the middle of the day, a site harboring no military significance becomes a target. The bomb is aimed solely at civilians! President Zelensky reveals that over 200 individuals occupied the building during the attack, a disclosure he made on Telegram.
Kharkiv's city mayor, Igor Terekhov, lamented the horrific incident stating, "We are certain about two casualties." Meanwhile, the Ukrainska Pravda news outlet reports at least 24 people injured. The exact number of the 15 employees at the hardware store is undetermined.
A massive black cloud emerges, soaring high into the atmosphere, where a scorching blaze erupts within. The burning area measures around 10,000 to 15,000 square meters. Firefighters struggle to put out the flames, but with no success. As it stands, the events unfolding at the hardware store are beyond comprehension.
Since the onset of the conflict, Russians have mercilessly and continually bombed Kharkiv and its surroundings. Thousands of individuals evacuate, and several villages fall into Russian hands. The goal is for the city to fall under occupation through a wide-scale ground assault.
