Royal Caribbean extends Celebrity Cruises Casino Club earning period
Royal Caribbean is extending the 2023 earning period for its Celebrity Cruises Blue Chip Club membership.
Royal Caribbean Group is the parent company of Royal Caribbean and Celebrity Cruises. Both lines typically offer guests access to onboard slot machines and live dealer table games.
Players are unhappy with Royal Caribbean running two casino loyalty programs for two cruise lines. The casino on Royal Caribbean cruise ships is called Casino Royale and offers the Club Royale rewards program. Celebrities refer to their venues simply as "casinos" and offer a loyalty program called "Blue Chip Clubs."
Royal Caribbean is expected to soon comply with customer requests to merge the two casino projects.
Today, there is a degree of equality between our brands, but there is a huge opportunity for us to do more and really capitalize on that connection and the fact that we are part of the same family. ” Andrea Shay, Assistant Vice President, Loyalty Marketing, Celebrity Cruises, Royal Caribbean Blog reported in September.
Royal Caribbean is extending the 2023 Blue Chip Club earning period from December 31 to July 31, 2024, as the merger of the loyalty programs may take more time.
Plan Details
Casinos are becoming increasingly important to major cruise operators, as evidenced by recent announcements by companies like Royal Caribbean and Carnival Corporation of major updates and expansions to their onboard casinos. After briefly canceling the casino, Crystal Cruises announced in September that it would reverse the decision and bring back slot machines and table games in 2024.
Royal Caribbean replaced most of its jazz club this year to create a smoking-free casino area. Carnival-owned Princess Cruises will open its largest-ever casino when its new $1 billion ship, Sun Princess, sets sail in February. The Sun Princess Casino spans nearly 9,000 square feet and features 227 slot machines and 13 gaming tables. The carnival also added progressive table games this year.
Royal Caribbean clearly understands the importance of allowing its Royal and Celebrity customers to use its Player Rewards program interchangeably.
Under the current agreement, Blue Chip Club members will earn one tier point for every $1 wagered on slot machines and $2 wagered on video poker. The program rewards 8 levels of points for every $1 wagered on table games.
Once members reach the 25,000 Amethyst level, they will receive $100 in free games on every trip. The promotional fee increases to $500 for the Sapphire level with 100,000 points and to $1,000 for the Sapphire Plus level (500,000 points).
The highest level of the program is Ruby, with 1 million points. Ruby members will receive $2,500 in free games per trip or 15% of their last trip gaming event, whichever is greater.
Royal Club Royal Club rewards 1 tier point for every $5 played on slot machines and $10 played on video poker. Table games earn points based on time played, games played and average bet. Points can be redeemed for free games.
Royal Caribbean’s Club Royale program resets player points on April 1 of each year. For Celebrity Blue Chips, points typically reset on January 1st. However, that won’t be the case until August 1, 2024.
Celebrity Casino
Celebrity Cruises' fleet offers more than 2,000 slot machines and 150 table games. To play on most tours, guests must be 18 years or older.
The casino will open as soon as the ship enters international waters (approximately 12 miles from U.S. land).
