Uncertain reason leads to... - Remarkable emergency landing near Büsum
A two-story plane had to make an urgent landing in the North Sea near Büsum on Sunday after the pilot experienced technical issues.
Taking off from Steinburg and flight-bound for Helgoland, the pilot spotted a problem at around 10:30 am. He immediately notified authorities of his distress and executed the demanding procedure for an emergency water landing.
Alarm!
Water rescue units scrambled to the scene with a substantial team. The crew of a nearby boat saved the pair from the sea, both of whom had sustained minor injuries as a result of the landing.
The plane was subsequently towed to Büsum. A group comprising firefighters from the Büsum volunteer fire department, the water police, and the criminal police welcomed the rescue team and the saved individuals at the harbor.
The precise cause of the technical snag that necessitated the pilot's quick action is yet to be identified. The aircraft will undergo further inspection in the following days.
