A woman was burned to death after getting trapped under a car's hood dryer. - Relatives received a settlement of 2000 euros to cover their agony and anguish.

They've finally received compensation from the insurance company of "PWG Pflegeteam24" Schwedt - a whopping 2,000 euros. "The sheer trauma our mother went through before she passed, coupled with the blatant negligence, bears no resemblance to this amount," says Annette V.

Caring assistant Waltraud B. had put on a drying cap on the dementia patient's head after washing her hair, exited the room, and simply forgot about her. Unable to be heard or make herself heard, the patient was stuck under the hood for far too long.

The electric hairdryer caused some serious burns to Waltraud B.'s scalp. It wasn't until ten minutes had passed that the situation was noticed. Despite the yellow secretions and blisters that followed, the care manager didn't call a doctor. In fact, she initially tried to hide these injuries from the patient's family.

Eventually, 30 hours later, Waltraud B. was taken to the emergency room where she received treatment for second-degree burns. Unfortunately, a black scab was already present and spread across her head.

It seems the pain was so severe that the elderly woman stopped eating and drinking. She died ten days after the accident.

The public prosecutor's office decided to drop the investigation into negligence. They stated, quite simply, that understanding how a drying hood can become uncomfortably warm and cause skin redness is part of life experience. The two accused were only found guilty of minor breaches of duty of care.

Annette V. and Karin H. are at a loss. "We've got to live with the horrifying truth of our mother's passing, and those responsible continue to function as if nothing happened."
