Unfaulted in HSV's loss - Reichert experiences a tough first game with his new team.
In his debut match for the team, goalkeeper Jan Reichert (22) wasn't the most fortunate player. Despite his club losing 4-1 against Hamburg, the keeper held his ground and managed to stop a shot from HSV's Robert Glatzel (19th).
However, Reichert wasn't able to stop Glatzel from scoring a hat-trick (22 goals in total for the season), which practically handed HSV a win. The issue again lay in FCN's poor defensive performance, particularly in the first half, when the team seemed to have one eye on the summer vacay. Both Hofmann and Marquez made mistakes during the first goal against them that proved costly. Their performance didn't improve after the first goal, as they let in goals at 1-2 (22nd minute) and 1-3 (28th minute). The first half was a struggle for FCN, with them conceding three goals within the first 30 minutes.
When it came to their offense, FCN shined briefly. Goller opened the scoring in the third minute, but the goal was disallowed due to an offside violation. Schleimer managed to score from a playful cross by Hofmann in the 16th, tying the score at 1-1. Unfortunately, their offensive attack wasn't enough to gain any significant points in Hamburg. Castrop accidentally hit the post during extra time.
In the end, Glatzel converted a penalty kick on the counter-attack and secured a 4-1 win for HSV with the final horn. Head coach of FCN, Cristian Fiél (44), wasn't thrilled with the outcome: "This is the dim thread that runs through our season. If you can't score goals, play bad defense, and allow goals, it's hard to get points or win games. This season has been more tough than rewarding, so I'm glad it's over."
