Knee surgery recovery process - Ready to perform excellently at Nuremberg!
The majority of clubs in the second division, and even some in the first division, were reportedly keen on signing Duisburg's midfield star Caspar Jander (20) during the winter season. However, FCN managed to snag him.
Jander's performance in the second half of the season at the recently-relegated third division team was less than impressive. In early February, he sustained a ligament injury in his knee during a home match against Jahn Regensburg (0:1) and required surgery from renowned orthopedist Professor Thore Zantop (46) in Straubing. Unfortunately, he was sidelined for the entire season.
Luckily, the surgery and subsequent rehabilitation were successful. Jander is now set to complete his two-and-a-half-week physiotherapy session with rehab expert Klaus Eder (70) in Donaustauf this Saturday. The positive outcome: Jander will be able to fully bend his knee by the start of club training (June 24).
Horn expresses "internal conflict": frustrated despite salvation
A seemingly harmonious conclusion!
The FCN players delivered a focused performance in their 3:0 victory against Elversberg, both celebrating their relegation survival and demonstrating their unity with the fans in their final home game of the season.
Defender Jannes Horn (27): "We're happy about it. The fans have endured a lot. That's why we can be content; however, it's not entirely satisfying for us players."
Horn also expressed some frustration: "I'm also a bit irritated. We're clearly capable of more. It's just that we haven't shown it on the field lately. Thus, there's this internal struggle as to why."
The team delivered arguably their best and most consistent performance of the entire second half of the season against Elversberg. Horn: "There's plenty to work on following this season."
Presumably, it shouldn't be the club's goal to have to be on edge each season until just before the end to keep their spot in the second division.
