Probing into incidents - Racist slurs were raised during a shooting event in Lower Saxony.
Authorities are probing into racist chants at a gun festival in Lower Saxony. At this multi-day event in Löningen, west of Cloppenburg, held on Whit Monday, individuals were singing hateful slogans to the song "L'amour toujours" by Gigi D'Agostino. The police conveyed this news to the public on Friday.
Earlier in the week, a video from Sylt stirred up serious indignation across the nation. It depicted youths shouting demeaning phrases to the same song in front of a pub on this North Sea island. The bar distanced themselves from the incident and declared they would seek legal retribution. Police are also examining this case. More of such situations have surfaced repeatedly in recent months.
"buten un binnen", a website based in Bremen, reported online about the occurrence in Löningen. As per their report, a video on Snapchat featured young people yelling hateful words while attending the gun festival. The derogatory slogans included "Foreigners out", "Germany for Germans", and more.
The Bunnen Shooting Club posted a statement on Instagram, condemning the incident and dissociating themselves from these actions. The club leadership learned of it on Tuesday, and promptly issued a reprimand to their attendees. This club is diverse and embraces all. Authorities will delve further into the matter.
Andreas Sagehorn, President of the Oldenburg Police Directorate, expressed: "In a worldly and accepting society that recently commemorated the 75th anniversary of the Basic Law, such conduct contradicts our notion of humankind."
