Kiev's mayor, Klitschko, makes a statement. - Putin disregards the deaths of his subjects.

In the past day, a Russian guided bomb struck a market in Kharkiv, fatally injuring at least 16 individuals. In the east and south, heavy combat persists.

These days, Vitali Klitschko (52), the mayor of Kiev, discusses what's necessary to thwart Putin's assaults - ensuring Ukraine defeats Putin, rather than the other way around.

In the eyes of Klitschko, what's needed for Ukraine to triumph over the Russian army? Significant aid from the West.

Klitschko: "It's no secret: Without your assistance, without Western assistance, we cannot be strong. We require weapons, we require modern technology. Today, it's not about Ukraine, but rather about values, about democracy. Putin is extremely aggressive." If Putin isn't deterred, there's a risk of re-establishing the Russian Empire.

Despite this, Klitschko remains optimistic about Ukraine's victory.

The Kiev mayor recalls the initial weeks following the onset of the war in 2022. At this time, he visited a weapons distribution point in Kiev during the night: "The entire city was dark. I saw a queue of men and women. It was dark, chilly, windy. Nobody was speaking; everyone was waiting for their firearms."

Emotionally, Klitschko recounts, "In this instant, I spoke to the people, looked them in the eye. I realized these individuals were willing to die for their nation, their city, their family. At that moment, I felt a special emotion."

Adding on, "In this moment, I stated: We can't lose this battle, this war. No one can conquer you if you keep fighting. If you succumb, you're finished. That's why we're continuing to fight, we shall not yield."
