Alsmann releases a new anthem. - Prussia resounds with the beat of drums and the blare of trumpets!
A well-known musician, multi-instrumentalist, host, and singer, Götz Alsmann (66), has made a name for himself beyond the borders of his hometown Muenster. Just recently, he received the Federal Cross of Merit from Cultural State Minister Claudia Roth (69) during a ceremony in Beerlin. However, Alsmann isn't just into creating beautiful melodies; he's a die-hard supporter of Prussian Club - "it's impossible to avoid attending the club when you live in this city." As a loyal fan, he enjoys the games of his Black-Green-Whites.
For some time now, Alsmann has been promising his fellow supporters a brand new, legendary club anthem, similar to the one that Herbert Grönemeyer (68) created for VfL Bochum. It all started in the early 90s, with him recording a song for a different club called "Eagles' Carriers," with the title "Preußen Muenster forever." Other musicians followed suit with similar fan songs, but none could match the hype.
This changed in January. Götz Alsmann hinted to Magenta Sport that he has a new project that would make fans go wild and sing along with their scarves up high. The team gathered at the Stadthalle in Hiltrup, where the space was transformed into a massive recording studio. Behind closed doors, Alsmann put together a symphonic masterpiece. Together with the help of the Muenster City Theater's symphony orchestra, the opera choir, and his own band, they recorded the new Preußen anthem in style. Along with some dedicated fans, Dr. Bernward Maasjost (66), the club boss, Frank Westermann (66/ used to be the choir soloist), and board members Dr. Ursula Paschke (64), Christoph Mangelmans (41), and Burkhard Brüx (49) also participated in the recording.
Frank Westermann is filled with excitement: "Tastes may vary, but the song text written by Götz Alsmann himself and the melody being unique will definitely stir up emotions. He just went the extra mile!" And he added, "I guarantee that this anthem will be unmatched."
The details of the new musical phenomenon are still under wraps. It won't make its grand entrance until July 12th. But previews have been released, and they sound promising.
Meanwhile, the Preußen have added a fresh young talent to their roster. Jakob Korte (20), a central midfielder, joined the professionals from their own U23 team for the new season. The youngster played 53 Oberliga games in total, progressing through all the youth leagues. He's a product of the club, following the path of other young stars like Nicolai Remberg (22) at Holstein Kiel and Jano ter Horst (21).
Ole Kittner (36), the sports business manager, spoke enthusiastically, "Jakob manages to meet the next level of demand with each passing year. We want to help him reach his full potential." The young hopeful shares the same excitement: "I've been a ball boy in the stadium and have always dreamed of playing on the pitch, and I believe I'm ready!"
Lastly, we mourn the passing of Dagmar Drewes, a former Bundesliga player for Preussen, who passed away on Monday at the age of 86. During the club's founding season in the Bundesliga, Drewes played all 30 league games and never missed a minute. Even after their relegation, he remained a Prussian supporter, playing 115 more games in the Regionalliga.
