Unlawful activity or transgression - Probe persists against law enforcement officials from MV.
One year after a contentious occurrence with police officers from Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania at the May Day rally in Berlin, the case is still in the legal system. Reportedly, the Berlin prosecutor's office is examining a police superintendent for assault in the line of duty.
He has been accused of toppling a man "with no justifiable reason" while at the head of a police barricade in the Oranienstrasse region, a spokesperson confirmed on Tuesday in response to a query. Consequently, the man tumbled to the ground. Nonetheless, authorities have not been able to trace the person in question. As a result, it remains uncertain whether the injured individual sustained any harm.
The aftermath of the May 1st event a year ago saw a video emerge, depicting law enforcement officers attempting to disperse partygoers from Oranienstraße late at night, pepper-spraying them and violently pushing a drunk man to the ground. At the time, the Berlin police had assured they would conduct a probe.
