Blaze caused by 400 horsepower engine in Bavaria - Previously, it was a Ferrari.
On Ascension Day, an early evening crash involving a Ferrari caused some expensive destruction! The driver, a 41-year-old man from Hesse, was cruising down the AB 23 district road around 4:15 p.m. However, he lost control in a left-hand bend, near Jakobsthal (part of Aschaffenburg, in Bavaria) on a curvy and sloping road.
The Ferrari collided head-on into a tree, spun out, and stopped in a meadow. Immediately afterward, the car erupted in flames.
Thankfully, the driver and his 44-year-old passenger managed to escape the fire just in time. They were both evacuated from their burning car before it destroyed itself completely.
Fire departments from four different towns quickly arrived to help, taking control of the flames and putting them out. However, there was nothing left of the red Ferrari - believed to be an F360 Modena with around 400 horsepower - except a pile of melted metal.
The driver and passenger were checked over by the medical team and paramedics, but they only suffered minor injuries and didn't have to be taken to the hospital. As soon as they were able, they got in a taxi to leave the scene.
The police said the total property damage from this incident will be around 100,000 euros. The road closure and subsequent detours for two hours disrupted local traffic.
