Previous NFL Star Dion Lewis Gets Arrested at Tampa's Seminole Hard Rock Casino

Update: Former NFL player Dion Lewis, known for his stint with the New England Patriots, was arrested this week for causing a disturbance at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Tampa, Florida.

Details: Lewis was reportedly acting "unruly and belligerent" and refusing to leave the premises, prompting his arrest, according to authorities. The Seminole Police Department (SPD) charged him with trespassing. He was booked around 3 p.m. and later released from custody on a $500 bond. There are no reports of injuries in connection with the incident.

Past Troubles: This incident comes on the heels of another alleged altercation, in January at a strip club in New York State where he allegedly attacked a security guard.

Patriots Victory: Lewis is remembered for his role in the Patriots' 2017 Super Bowl victory over the Atlanta Falcons. They won in overtime with a 34-28 score.

Carousel of Teams: His NFL career spanned four teams - the Patriots, Tennessee Titans, New York Giants, and his early years with the Philadelphia Eagles and Cleveland Browns.

Coach to Player: Lewis became a volunteer assistant running backs coach for the University of Albany football team back in January. However, he parted ways with the team shortly after a June incident at Nite Moves Gentlemen's Club following allegations of a violent altercation with a security guard.

College Standouts: As a college player, he shined at the University of Pittsburgh in 2009-2010, earning the National Freshman of the Year titles from Sporting News and CBSSports.com, the Freshman of the Year title from College Football News, and earned second-team honors from the Associated Press. In his second year, he made the list of top five candidates for the Heisman Trophy but struggled with his season's performance and left college before earning a diploma.

Draft and Retirement: Lewis was drafted in the fifth round of the 2011 NFL draft by the Philadelphia Eagles. He retired in 2021 after a decade in the league.

Bonus: Lewis's college career was marked by many honors, with a standout year in 2010 where he was viewed as a top contender for the Heisman Trophy, one of the highest honors in American college football. Adding to his marked career, he was picked up in the fifth round of the 2011 NFL draft and played for a total of four teams in the NFL - the Eagles, Patriots, Titans, and Giants. Later, he became a volunteer assistant running backs coach for the University of Albany football team before parting ways due to a June incident at a strip club, where he was banned after allegedly assaulting a security guard. Lewis grew up playing football in Albany before he was named National Freshman of the Year by the Sporting News and CBSSports.com and Offensive Freshman of the Year by College Football News. He was also a second-team All-American by the Associated Press in his first season at Pitt. His college career ended prematurely, without a college diploma, when he chose to enter the draft.
