Son of the Slovenian assassin discusses his father - Possibly, there was a brief malfunction.
Police promptly arrest the suspected shooter. As per news sources, this suspect is hobbyist poet Juraj C. (71), who lives approximately 80 kilometers away from the crime location in Levice.
Son: "Genuinely bewildered"
The news outlet "Aktuality.sk" interviewed the suspect's son. The son is perplexed by the turn of events. He remarked, "I'm completely clueless as to what my father was up to and why this tragedy unfolded."
Querying if his father had any animosity towards Prime Minister Fico, the son retorted, "Here's the thing - he didn't vote for him. That's the extent of my knowledge on this matter."
Juraj C. had never uttered a word about harming or killing a political figure, nor did he receive any psychiatric treatment.
"I'll speculate that he possibly had a malfunction, I'm unsure. He's pretty lively, but the notion of him consulting a psychiatrist or the like, no," "Aktuality.sk" relayed the son as saying. The report adds that Juraj C. used to act as a security guard and was cleared to keep firearms privately.
The suspect has put out multiple poetry volumes in the past and even established a literature group. It's claimed that in 2016, he was allegedly assaulted when working as a security guard: While watching over a mall in Levice, he was allegedly assaulted by an individual affected by drugs.
An associate of the suspect said, "I'm staggered by what occurred today. He had never acted out before. Sometimes he'd speak about what government he disapproved of. But this, this is bewildering."
Minister: "Still in intensive care"
Prime Minister Fico got hit by numerous bullets, news outlets claim. He was taken by helicopter to a clinic in Banska Bystrica for emergency surgery at 4 pm. His life is at stake, the government announced on Wednesday.
At a press conference in the evening, Defense Minister Robert Kaliňák (53) exclaimed that Fico was "still fighting for his life". The minister elaborated, "He's undergoing an operation that hasn't finished yet."
US President Joe Biden (81) mentioned that he's fervently praying for the speedy recovery of the Slovakian leader.
