Passing another vehicle on the road - Porsche car crashes into a tree, resulting in driver's tragic demise.
A tragic incident took place on 3131 country road at 3:00 a.m. A 67-year-old driver from Ehringshausen, traveling from Petersweiher towards Gießen, attempted to pass a 61-year-old Renault driver from Leun. It seems that the Porsche driver lost control of his high-performance car and veered off to the left. He crashed into a ditch, struck a tree, and was thrown back onto the road. Once again, his speedy vehicle rolled over multiple times, colliding with an oncoming rental car.
Despite prompt rescue attempts, the Porsche driver succumbed to his severe injuries at the scene. The driver of the rental car, a 62-year-old from Giessen, only sustained minor injuries but required hospitalization for observation.
To deal with the aftermath of the accident, country road 3131 was shut down entirely, and numerous emergency vehicles from the police, ambulance services, and rescue crews were dispatched. The financial damage is estimated to be around 130,000 euros.
A specialist from the public prosecutor's office is now investigating how the crash occurred, and anyone with relevant information is urged to get in touch with the Gießen-Süd highway police. Call 0641 7006-3555 for more details.
