Learning and instruction. - Police report: School unwittingly becomes the site of a violent episode.

Ez분 trick Brandenburg’s Education Minister Steffen Freiberg (SPD) believes the violent incident that occurred at a school in Cottbus, injuring two individuals, may have been a coincidence. He stated during a special session in the state parliament's education committee on Tuesday, "The police seem to believe that the school was the accidental center of the event." Based on the information available, the event could've taken place elsewhere. Steffen Freiberg was surprised and alarmed by the altercation which took place at the secondary school in Cottbus-Schmellwitz. When questioned about the motivations for the incident, he emphasized the ongoing investigations. "Violent incidents do occur in our schools."

A 17-year-old student and the school's deputy principal were both injured in the skirmish that unfolded on Monday the previous week. The police reported that a band of four individuals had entered the school premises. They engaged in a heated verbal exchange with the student, which subsequently escalated outside of the school grounds. The 17-year-old sustained injuries during the conflict, while the teacher who tried to mediate the altercation was also hurt. Upon their arrival, police managed to disperse the growing crowd and apprehend the four individuals involved. Freiberg expressed his gratitude to those who intervened.

AfD political figure Dennis Hohloch portrayed the school as a significant hotspot, mentioning 62 reports filed within one year concerning criminal activities. The head teacher, Tobias Kahl, pointed out that these instances involved not only violent incidents, but also theft, damage to property, and the display of anti-constitutional symbols. He hasn't disclosed the latest figures.

Kahl expressed his disappointment at how the positive activities at the school have been overshadowed by this one event. "The school is more than just this one incident," he remarked. "We have jointly designed the schoolyard, held school discos, and organized experimental nights." The school's close collaboration between the teaching staff and school social workers, as noted by the highest school supervisory authority in the Education Ministry, is very strong.

The police and schools in Brandenburg have been collaborating since 2002 to prevent and combat crime. Minister Freiberg proudly announced that a new decree had recently been revised, stating it would "strengthen democracy, tolerance, and respect in the long term." He emphasized the importance of safeguarding the mental and physical wellbeing of students, as mandated by the Education Act. Left-wing MP Kathrin Dannenberg endorsed the hiring of additional staff, including school social workers.
