Police Records a Complaint Following Cardi B's Mic Toss towards Las Vegas Audience
On July 30th, someone reported to the Las Vegas police department that they were hurt by a microphone thrown into the crowd by Cardi B during her performance at Drai's on the Las Vegas Strip the night before. No arrests or citations have been issued.
Earlier
Cardi B experienced a similar incident to other musicians recently when she was splashed with a drink from the audience at Drai's BeachClub on the Las Vegas Strip on July 29th. Instead of remaining calm like Harry Styles, Pink, and Drake, Cardi B took matters into her own hands - and microphone - and hurled it back at the person who threw the drink.
TMZ posted a combined video of the incident from Twitter and TikTok, which had over 57 million views by Sunday morning.
Cardi B, unconcerned by getting drenched in clothing and without interrupting her performance's backing audio, saw this as a chance to exact revenge while also promoting her rapper-husband Offset's new song, "Jealousy." Cardi B even retweeted the footage of her actions with the title "Jealous Ass Bitch."
Consequences?
The police department hasn't confirmed whether Cardi B's microphone hit its target. Currently, no charges have been filed or arrests made. However, based on the Daily Mail's report, Cardi B may have difficulty proving she was the one who threw the microphone. The article alleges that she encouraged fans to throw water at her due to the excessive heat in Sin City.
Fans at the outdoor show experienced this unbearable heat for two hours before the headliner arrived.
Cardi B seems to enjoy using microphones as weapons, as she launched one at her DJ on Friday at Drai's too. An irate commenter on the viral TikTok video said she was upset because her songs were being ended too early.
An Onstage Problem
There's been an increasing trend of people throwing objects at musicians on stage. For example, rapper Drake got hit with a vape pen at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, Pink was covered in cremated ashes, and Harry Styles got hit by a bouquet of flowers or a Skittle. The only severe harm so far was a black eye and stitches suffered by country singer Bebe Rexha, who was hit with a mobile phone in New York in June.
In a serious yet seemingly half-joking attempt to stop the trend, singer Adele threatened her audience, declaring, "I (expletive) dare you to throw something at me. I'll (expletive) kill you!"
