Using Performance-Enhancing Drugs - Police raid on suspected doping suppliers ends in arrests
In a recent crackdown on doping substance dealers, three individuals were apprehended in Hesse. Simultaneously, authorities conducted raids across federal states of Baden-Württemberg, Bavaria, North Rhine-Westphalia, Lower Saxony, Rhineland-Palatinate, and Berlin. The raids began on Tuesday and led to the seizure of various items related to performance-enhancing drugs.
10,000 ampoules, 10,000 tablets, and 1,200 syringes containing doping substances were confiscated, as well as more than 150,000 euros in cash. These items are estimated to be worth approximately 60,000 euros. In addition to these, investigators discovered two firearms, ammunition, and a kilogram of black powder during the raids.
The initial impetus for the investigation stemmed from a package containing doping substances, which had originated in Spain and been confiscated by customs in 2022. Upon further investigation, these same substances were found at the recipient's residence. Based on this, arrest warrants were issued for three males aged 27, 36, and 38. Under investigation, they are suspected of trafficking large quantities of doping agents. On Tuesday, they were due to appear before an investigating judge.
Numerous searches were conducted in various locations, including Frankfurt, Dreieich, and Langen (Hesse), Pforzheim, Constance, and Rheinstetten (Baden-Württemberg), Monheim am Rhein and Warburg (NRW), the district of Stade (Lower Saxony), the district of Bad-Kreuznach (Rhineland-Palatinate), and the districts of Günzburg and Eichstätt (Bavaria), and Berlin.
A statement from the customs and public prosecutor's office included photographs of the seized items.
