Göppingen District's News - Police probe incident of blazing garbage bags
Authorities in Göppingen are looking into a series of fiery incidents involving garbage bags close to residential homes and parking garages. One of these infernos damaged a vehicle in the underground parking of an apartment building in Eislingen/Fils on Saturday night, police said, leaving no one harmed physically.
The case is being handled by the criminal investigation department, who suspect that the incidents were deliberately set by unknown individuals. With the fires so close to residential buildings, the department is considering whether arson charges are just the beginning, and whether attempted aggravated arson and attempted murder charges are also appropriate.
Emergency response was swift, as several fires were reported in the area early on Saturday morning. The quick arrival of the fire department minimized the damage, but an exact figure on the losses hasn't been released at this time.
