Police in Minnesota apprehend suspects involved in a TikTok gambling operation.

A man from Minnesota has been arrested for running an unlawful gaming business on TikTok. Blake Carl Fitzgerald, aged 40, was charged on Friday with three offenses related to running an illegal gambling operation. If found guilty, he could serve three years in prison and be fined thousands of dollars.

Fitzgerald traveled to two local casinos, Mystic Lake Casino Hotel and Treasure Island Resort & Casino, and played slot machines as a representative for over 100 participants. He would request which machine they wanted him to operate for them and wager on their behalf. Prosecutors describe him as receiving $65,103.50 in payment through Venmo and CashApp between October and December 2022. He called the sums "donations" or "deposits."

The participants would pay Fitzgerald $5.99 for his services, allowing them to join his private messaging group where he could place bets on their behalf. If they gave him an additional $5.99, their subscription would be renewed. Fitzgerald would "refund" the initial cost to participants if he ran out of time to play for them. However, he kept half of the total amount. He streamed games on TikTok for his followers to watch and made transactions via the platform.

The authorities were alerted to the scheme after a complaint was made to the Minnesota Alcohol and Gambling Enforcement Division. Another suspect was also charged. The case is being handled by the Scott County Court's prosecutors.

Meanwhile, in Indiana, an uncontrolled blaze at Horseshoe Casino Hammond's parking garage led to extensive damage to several vehicles last Friday. The initial blaze involved just one vehicle, which was already engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived. Surrounding cars were damaged by the heat generated. While there was no apparent explosion, the echoing sound in the garage made it sound much louder. The fire's cause remains unknown, and it's not clear if it was deliberate. There were no injuries from the incident.

Finally, in Connecticut, a blaze in Foxwoods Resort Casino's parking garage in October damaged several vehicles. However, more information on the extent of the damage is not available.
