Radical ideology - Police encounter "Citizen of the Reich" brandishing knife during SEK raid.

A man claiming to be a "Reichsbürger" brandished a knife at police officers in Velbert, near Düsseldorf, prompting a response from a special task force. The special forces eventually subdued the man and placed him under arrest, as per the police's reports.

The police had been called to an apartment building late at night due to damage to the door. The man had destroyed the door. Upon arrival, the officers were threatened by the 30-year-old with a knife, according to the police.

Moreover, he ranted about his hatred for the police and proclaimed himself as a "Reichsbürger," which is a group that believes the historical German Reich, founded in 1871 under the rule of an emperor, still exists and all state institutions are thus illegitimate.

Special forces called to assist

Since the man barricaded himself in his apartment, a special forces team was called for assistance. The SEK crashed through the door and managed to overcome the man. The individual is currently in custody, and the inquiry continues.

Furthermore, a landmark trial commenced on Monday in Stuttgart against a possible terrorist organization led by Heinrich XIII Prince Reuß, who supposedly plotted to overthrow the federal government through violent means. This trial marks the first of three lengthy legal proceedings involving members of the group – their case gained notoriety after a widespread anti-terror operation in various federal states and abroad in December 2022. It is considered one of the largest terror trials in Germany's history.
