PokerStars Increases European Poker Tour Program, Secures Agreement with NHL's Red Wings

The 2022 European Poker Tour (EPT) is ongoing, but preparations are already underway for the 2023 edition. In the upcoming year, there will be two new stopovers, giving poker enthusiasts from various nations a chance to pocket some of the millions of dollars that will be up for grabs.

The 2023 EPT will commence in Paris from February 15-26 at the Hyatt Regency Paris Etoile. This is not the first time the EPT has visited France, having previously been hosted at the Casino Barriere de Deauville between 2005 and 2015.

This will be the first time the poker tournament comes to Paris. The announcement comes at almost the same time as the World Poker Tour announced a new deal with France's poker tournament organizer TexaPoker to host live tournaments in the country.

Exploring the European Poker Scene

Following the Paris showdown, the EPT heads to Monte Carlo for a fortnight of poker challenges. The event at the Monte-Carlo Casino runs from April 26 to May 3, followed by a trip to Barcelona, Spain.

Barcelona's stop on the EPT calendar commences on August 21 and extends till September. This spot is a favorite of the European Poker Tour, which boasted 2,284 entries during the last main event at Casino Barcelona.

After that, the EPT embarks on a journey to Cyprus, another new destination on the tour. The Merit Royal Hotel Casino & Spa will play host to the series from October 11-22. However, the recently-opened City of Dreams Mediterranean was an option too, as it now provides a great opportunity for Melco Resorts and Entertainment to host the EPT.

The Merit already has experience with poker events. It had recently hosted the Triton Poker Coin Rivet Invitational in September, where Sam Grafton, a PokerStars ambassador, claimed a $5.5 million victory. Consequently, the British poker pro surpassed $12.68 million in career earnings, according to Hendon Mob.

The Grand Finale for the 2023 EPT will take place at King's Casino in Prague, Czech Republic, from December 6-17. King's Casino is a frequent partner of the EPT and will be hosting the closing ceremony of this year's season on December 7th.

PokerStars Branches Out to the Sports World

PokerStars has inked a partnership deal with the Detroit Red Wings of the National Hockey League. This marks the first time PokerStars has dabbled in the world of US sports. The Flutter-owned poker giant will act as the official sponsor of the team.

Thanks to the multi-year agreement, both PokerStars and the Red Wings will enjoy mutual branding privileges. The EPT logo will feature on the Red Wings' promotional materials, and the hockey team's branding will be showcased on PokerStars' platforms.

Furthermore, there will be several collaborations between the two parties to reward fans and players with goodies like merchandise, game tickets, and memorabilia. Fans can anticipate some exciting poker happenings at the Little Caesars Arena next season.

Notably, FanDuel, also a Flutter subsidiary, partnered with the Red Wings last year and has become an official sponsor of the team.
