The Union poses a test - Plan to Combat Islamism by Merz

Friedrich Merz, head of the CDU political party, aims to "strongly tackle political Islam as a threat to our liberal democracy." This outcomes from a four-page motions approved by the CDU/CSU parliamentary group in the Bundestag on Tuesday. It will be discussed in the Bundestag on Friday.

Lately, Islamist demonstrations have demanded "the abolition of our liberal democracy in favor of an Islamic caliphate and the implementation of Sharia law." However, in contrast to other European countries, calls for an Islamist terror state haven't been criminal offenses in Germany up to now. The CDU/CSU plans to alter this.

► Anyone in Germany who demands the abolition of the liberal democratic foundation and advocates for an Islamic theocracy should face imprisonment.

► Individuals holding dual citizenship will lose their German citizenship if they promote the establishment of a caliphate in Germany.

► Asylum seekers who publicly advocate for Sharia laws in Germany will not be granted a residence permit but should be deported.

► No support: Islamists should not receive financial assistance as asylum seekers if they protest for an Islamist theocracy on the streets.

► The CDU/CSU plans to outlaw "associations and organizations that strive to establish an Islamist system in Germany" and halt their operations. This includes the immediate closure of the Islamic Center in Hamburg (IZH).

► In addition to international terror lists, the Federal Criminal Police Office should maintain its own lists of terrorist organizations and their supporters.

► Foreign states must not be permitted to "exercise managerial, guidance, and control powers in the bodies of religious organizations in Germany." Funding by foreign states is also prohibited. Associations will be shut down if there are breaches.

► "Mosque communities in which Islamist viewpoints, hate speech, glorification of terror, anti-Semitism, and celebration of criminal activities are preached will be closed after a warning."

De Vries: "We have a well-rounded action plan against Islamism, consisting of specific measures and actions specifically targeted at safeguarding young Muslims from Islamist influencers."
