Philadelphia Rivers Casino opens luxury suite hotel near Battery

Rivers Casino Philadelphia finally has a hotel open, more than 17 years after the company that owns the hotel told state officials it would provide accommodations.

This week, Rivers Casino launched the Riversuites Hotel at The Battery Philadelphia. The 62-room all-suite hotel is part of The Battery, a mixed-use complex on a former power plant on the Delaware River.

In addition to 62 guest rooms, the 500,000-square-foot Battery features 171 residential apartments, office space, lobby bar, indoor gym, coworking space, rooftop pool, library and study, and golf simulator. Outdoor walkways provide private gathering spaces for residents and tenants.

Eric Althaus, general manager of Rivers Casino Philadelphia, said opening a hotel "has always been something we wanted to do."

“This gives us another tool to take care of our guests and bring people to this area who wouldn’t normally come here (to the northeast of downtown),” Althaus added.

Rivers Casino is owned and operated by Rush Street Gaming, a Chicago-based regional casino developer. The 45,000-square-foot casino features more than 1,500 slot machines, 72 gaming tables and a BetRivers sportsbook.

In 2022, the casino won $118.4 million on slot machines and $98.2 million on table games. His oddsmakers won $13.1 million.

Hotel next to the casino

The Riversuites Hotel at The Battery is a short walk from the casinos on the Delaware River Trail. Rivers Casino officials said free shuttles are also available between facilities for guests who don't want to walk the three-tenths of a mile.

Riversuites guest rooms range in size from 850 square feet to nearly 2,300 square feet. Each unit features a fully equipped kitchen, bedroom with queen or king bed, dining area and full bathroom.

Rooms can be booked now. Room rates start at $275 per night before tax, with a resort fee of $25 per night.

The hotel is late

When Rush Street Gaming applied for a Philadelphia casino license in 2006, company officials told the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB) that the casino would include a hotel.

The battery was developed by Ira Lubert through his real estate company, Lubert-Adler, and is the property of Ira Lubert. Lubert plans to open a small casino in State College near Penn State's Nittany Mall. He worked with Bally's on the project, but a legal challenge remains to the PGCB's granting of the license to Lubert.

Rush and Lubert-Adler have not publicly disclosed their financial agreement.

Rivers Casino loyalty members participating in Rush Rewards can now redeem points for a stay at The Battery. Black card holders are entitled to one free night's stay. Levels start at 25,000 points.

Rush Rewards earns one point for every $5 bet on slots, $10 for every $10 bet on video poker, and every $10 bet on sports. Table game and video game points are based on average bets and hours played, and vary based on game type.
