Peter Luger Caesars Palace set to open Nov. 1
The Caesars Palace location of famed New York steakhouse Peter Luger is scheduled to open on Wednesday, November 1.
Caesars and Peter Luger announced the Las Vegas location in January 2022, with some hoping the restaurant would open by the end of the year. Peter Luger opened the first steakhouse in Brooklyn, New York, in 1887. It holds one Michelin star and is considered in some circles to be New York's first steakhouse. The Las Vegas Strip location will be the restaurant's fourth location, following Brooklyn, Long Island and Tokyo.
Designed by Jeffrey Beers International, Peter Luger's Steakhouse in Las Vegas draws inspiration from the original Brooklyn location, featuring exposed brick, wood paneling, oak floors and tabletops, and industrial windows," a "The new restaurant spans 8,700 square feet and can accommodate more than 300 people in the main dining room, large central bar and multiple private dining options," the statement said. "
The Peter Luger Edition of Caesars Palace is open Wednesday through Sunday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday and Tuesday from 5 p.m. until 10 p.m.
Peter Luger Caesars Palace will be different
The Peter Luger store at Caesars differs from its New York sister location in at least two ways.
First, as mentioned above, the open-air restaurant will be able to accommodate more than 300 guests, while the New York venue can only accommodate 60 to 65 guests. Second, these two New York restaurants only accept cash, debit cards, family accounts, and personal checks as forms of payment—no credit cards. Caesar's accepts credit cards.
The expansion of payment options is significant because the average dinner for two at Peter Luger's in New York is estimated to cost between $200 and $300, or more, depending on guests' drink and side selections. The Las Vegas location will offer additional amenities.
"From the main dining area, guests can watch chefs prepare Peter Luger's signature dishes in the impressive show kitchen," the statement said.
Peter Luger’s menu is small
A typical high-end steakhouse, including dozens of steakhouses in Las Vegas casino hotels, usually offers a fairly extensive menu that includes several cuts of beef and a selection of seafood and sides. Peter Luger takes a different approach, with a menu described as "notoriously sparse".
Regulars often order steaks for one, two, three or four people without looking at the menu. The restaurant also offers prime rib and seafood options for one or two people as well as a familiar array of entrees, salads and sides,” the statement said.
The Steak for Two is a huge porterhouse steak and is considered the crown jewel of the menu. The Peter Luger-designed Caesars Palace will also feature an iced clam tower, something not found at the New York venue.
