Zetterer and Backhaus: Werder's Goalkeepers In the Spotlight
Backhaus, who was recently loaned to Dutch first-division team Volendam, has attracted Barcelona's scouts. Though he didn't prevent relegation with his playing, he made an impressive showing as the youngest goalkeeper in the league.
Both Backhaus and Zetterer (who had his contract extended in May until 2027) are set to stay with Werder and coach Christian Vander for the upcoming season.
Following the departure of Jiri Pavlenka, the team is searching for a new third-choice goalie. The top lead so far is Rostock's Markus Kolke (33). A decision is expected imminently.
