Severely graphic surveillance footage released in 2016 - P. Diddy assaults his partner in a hotel corridor!
P. Diddy was once known as the most successful rapper in the world. However, he's now faced with disturbing allegations of abuse and human trafficking. In March, emergency services raided his properties.
On Friday, CNN aired a video showing a chilling surveillance footage from March 5, 2016, in which the superstar allegedly pushed, kicked, and dragged a woman across the floor.
The victim: Cassandra Ventura, a 37-year-old R&B singer known as Cassie. She sued the US rapper in November for civil damages.
Diddy accused of exploiting her
P. Diddy, also known as Puff Daddy, Puffy, Diddy, Swag, Love, and Brother Love, allegedly made Cassie engage in sexual acts with other men while he watched and recorded them.
The rapper is also accused of physically abusing her multiple times and raping her in 2018 when she tried to end their relationship. Ventura is seeking compensation for pain and suffering and undisclosed damages. Diddy denies these allegations.
The recently released footage is a glimpse of the nightmare Ventura experienced for over a decade.
Horrifying incident at the luxury hotel
At the InterContinental Hotel in L.A., Diddy is seen in the video with only a towel wrapped around his waist. He then grabs her by the neck and throws her on the floor. While holding the towel shut with one hand, he kicks her.
Cassie manages to get up and reaches for a phone on the wall. However, the abuse continues: Diddy pushes her again. Moments later, he sits down on a chair and throws an object at Cassie.
"The unsettling video serves as further proof of Mr. Combs' disturbing and predatory behavior," said Douglas H. Wigdor, Cassie's lawyer, regarding the video.
Why did the video only surface now?
Ventura claims that Diddy paid the hotel $50,000 to keep the footage secret.
Evidence of the ordeal
On the same day following the hotel attack, Cassie and Diddy walked together at a film premiere, hand in hand. The expression on her face perfectly summarizes her ordeal. And her body tells a story too.
She has multiple bruises on her right thigh and both shins. The choice of her clothing - a sleeveless dress - implies a cry for help that went unheard.
The same evening, she also wore a sleeveless dress, revealing discoloration and bruises on her shoulders. How much pain and distress must she have endured?
50 Cent's take on the matter
The violent video has shocked people worldwide. Some of Diddy's former peers reacted less unexpectedly.
Rapper 50 Cent is more sarcastic. "There's no way Puffy did it. He's innocent - his lawyers will say it all for him," 50 Cent said on the X platform. "That's what his lawyers will say. God help us all."
