Removed from usage. - One-third of taxis operating under the Uber brand in Berlin are operating illegally.

During a thorough check by the Berlin Office for Citizen and Administrative Affairs (LABO), it was discovered that one-third (38.84%) of the rental cars on popular platforms like Bliq, Bolt, FreeNow, and Uber in Berlin had problems.

The LABO examined all rental cars registered on these platforms in April 2024. The data from the four platforms was combined and evaluated collectively for a more accurate assessment.

There were 4,276 rental cars from 533 companies that were registered with at least one of the platforms.

Out of the vehicles tested, 23.25% were identified with issues, be it because the necessary permits were missing or because they had been revoked previously due to violations of the Passenger Transport Act.

Here's a breakdown of the problems found:

► 288 vehicles (6.74%) were not within the permit's scope.

► 1,282 vehicles (29.98%) were registered on the platforms despite the rental car companies not possessing the required permits under the Passenger Transport Act.

► In 379 vehicles (8.86%), there was a mismatch between the official business address and the one provided to the LABO.

As a result, 1,661 vehicles (38.84%) were found to have some kind of problem. This issue affected 217 rental car companies.
