How authentic is the love story on "Traumschiff"? - Officer on Jauch often admired by women due to his uniform.
A dreamlike setting on "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?"
The ZDF show "Das Traumschiff" instantly comes to mind when thinking about cruises, as it has been broadcast for over forty years. Günther Jauch, being a cruise enthusiast, wanted to know from an expert whether Florian Silbereisen's portrayal of Captain Max Parger and his crew on the series was realistic.
Cruises are different now compared to how they were decades ago, as Phillip Lellau stated. "In the past, it was more accurate, but the behavior onboard and the promises made to the captain are no longer entirely suitable," he explained. Safety regulations have evolved, making certain activities on the dream ship infeasible in real life.
While quiz questions took a back seat in the WWM show, the audience gained valuable knowledge about contemporary seafaring. For instance, they learned that cruise ships are equipped with fully functional onboard hospitals and small intensive care units.
Phillip Lellau, an officer at TUI Cruises, talked about his work schedule. He is typically at sea for three months before returning home for another three months. This arrangement can be challenging for families, so his wife and young daughter often accompany him on his voyages. "It's a unique way of life," Lellau said. "My wife and I chose to do it, and we're still pleased with our decision."
As an officer of the watch, Lellau has a cabin with a balcony, which provides enough space for his family. "With every promotion, things get a little more comfortable," he remarked. "When I started as a young officer, I was in a very small room."
Lellau wears three stripes on his shoulders, and Jauch asked if such a uniform still makes an impression on women. "It certainly does," he answered promptly. "The show accurately depicted the cruise experience."
In the end, Lellau won 64,000 euros. He had big plans for the money, saying, "I'll take my wife and child on a cruise."
