Featuring a prominent German figurehead: - Nowitzki leads team to NBA Finals!
Following the Celtics' arrival on Tuesday, the Mavericks stepped up their game. They thumped the Minnesota Timberwolves 124-103 in Game 5, resulting in a 4-1 series triumph for the squad helmed by legendary NBA player Dirk Nowitzki.
This is the first time the Dallas franchise has graced the Finals since 2011 when they clinched the championship with Nowitzki.
German NBA star Maxi Kleber was part of the celebrations, too. Despite being sidelined due to an injury during the playoffs for a few weeks, he geared up for the Finals.
A significant role in the Mavericks' success was played by superstar players Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving. The duo both netted 36 points in Game 5 against the Timberwolves. By quarter time, Doncic had already notched 20 points, and the pair had combined for 44 points- more than the whole Timberwolves' team by halftime.
The Slovenian Doncic was crowned the MVP of the series.
The Finals will commence on Thursday night at 2:30 am in Germany in Boston.
