Novomatic showcases novelty and strong financial performance.
Gaming giant Novomatic, hailing from Gumpoldskirchen, Austria, wowed attendees at the ICE Totally Gaming 2019 convention in London with their latest innovations. A primary focus of their showcase centered around biometric data analysis. Not just that, but they also released impressive financial reports for their European operations.
To fully capture the scale of their presence at the event, Novomatic claimed a staggering 5,000 square meter stand - making them the largest supplier in terms of space. With 20 subsidiaries under their umbrella, they displayed a diverse range of products. From various games to casino equipment, cash management systems, pub and arcade products, sports betting technology, and online, mobile, and social gaming sectors, Novomatic showcased it all.
Harald Neumann, Novomatic's CEO, reflects on their comprehensive portfolio: "We're on a mission to provide the most comprehensive selection of products in the industry, covering every single segment." The vastness of Novomatic's offering required 12 trucks to transport their goods - they set up 350 gaming terminals and a sizable 160 square meter LED screen. The assembly process even required an extensive six kilometers of copper cable along with two kilometers of fiber optics.
The largest gaming industry trade fair in the world, ICE Totally Gaming, offered Novomatic a unique platform, allowing them to test and optimize new products across various markets and venues. Neumann elaborates on the significance of the event: "As gaming tech producers and operators, we get to evaluate and refine our products front and center at the trade fair."
Not limited to gaming technology, Novomatic is eyeing expansion in the sports betting sector in 2019. Their Admiral sports betting brand is already leading the way in Austria, with 200 branches and 1,200 employees dedicated to the brand. They're planning to extend their global reach, with a focus on both Europe and the US market - the latter of which recently legalized sports betting.
Neumann highlights digital-interactive gaming as a rapidly growing sector with colossal potential for innovation: "Smartphones have transformed the gaming space, now customers can experience our games without hiccups on their phones, computers, or even at various establishments." Building upon this technological shift, Novomatic has ambitious plans for biometric data technology. They're one of the first companies to venture into this realm - with a focus on enhancing customer convenience and ensuring player safety.
Novomatic's impressive growth in recent years has seen them acquire 91 companies at a cost of €1.5 billion. Expanding their presence in key markets like Austria, Germany, the UK, Italy, and Eastern Europe, the company is jumping on the acquisitions bandwagon. Neumann, however, maintains that their rampage isn't done yet: "We've successfully established ourselves as market leaders in our core markets. For the remainder of 2019, we'll be concentrating on securing synergies between our companies."
To complete the fiscal 2018/19 financial picture, Neumann forecasts a staggering €5 billion in sales - comprising Novomatic AG, the Swiss-based companies ACE Casino Holding AG, and NOVO Swiss AG. Their earnings for the first half of 2018 had already reached an astonishing €1.36 billion from gaming machine revenue, making it a record-breaking mark - a 96.2% increase from their H1 2017 sales. While e-business revenue in Germany dropped 16.5%, it seems that changes in the law and the recent Paradise Papers scandal have not derailed Novomatic's growth. Their sights are set on maintaining their lead and making headway in the US market, which holds great potential for the gaming behemoth.
