Novomatic acquires a significant contract in the US.
Novomatic subsidiary Greentube is slated to create games for the "Hard Rock" group, marking a significant step in the Austrian company's expansion plans within the United States.
Known globally for its cafés, Hard Rock is also the owner of 17 casinos. Greentube is now poised to bring these casinos' offerings to life digitally, making them available as a mobile app in the near future. These "social casinos" are expected to operate with play money rather than real money, with the primary focus being on fun and social interaction between players.
This particular form of gambling has gained immense popularity through platforms like Facebook. The Hard Rock Group hopes that this software will enhance customer engagement and broaden their marketing horizons:
"Maintaining customer loyalty is crucial for casino operators," stated Kresimir Spajic, Hard Rock International and Seminole Gaming. "Our goal is to offer a unique gaming experience. We strongly believe that the Greentube Pro solution will ideal balance the online and offline casino experiences provided by the Hard Rock and Seminole brands."
For the Novomatic Group, this agreement primarily signifies another achievement in its aggressive expansion strategy. The company aspires to become the global market leader and has identified the US as a primary target region. It has already achieved a larger market share in the US hardware sector through its acquisition of Australian company, Ainsworth. Additionally, Novomatic has established itself as a supplier to the Foxwoods Casino Resort, which also houses a Hard Rock Café and uses Greentube's gaming terminals.
With this deal, Greentube is now assuming the top position in the social casino gaming sector for American resort casinos, commanding against international and, especially, domestic competition. "This deal with Hard Rock Casinos could be just the beginning," commented Mag. Thomas Graf, Chief Technology Officer of NOVOMATIC and Greentube CEO. "If we can successfully digitize these legendary land-based casinos, we could be looking at lucrative follow-up orders. After all, most physical casinos do not make extensive use of the digital realm. Their websites are primarily used for promotional purposes or reserving hotel rooms. Players frequently struggle to find any usable gaming options. There is definitely room to transform these well-known brands into online entities."
The social casino model pursued by Novomatic and Hard Rock may also circumvent potential legal issues. As a result, the collaboration could serve as a starting point for something much larger.
