North of the Strip, a new LGBTQ+ themed hotel is set to open - Queen Las Vegas.

The first ever boutique hotel and gaming lounge targeting the LGBTQ+ community in Las Vegas, known as Queen Las Vegas, is set to open this autumn on the north side of the Strip at 1215 S. Las Vegas Boulevard. It's in the Gateway District, neighboring the popular Little White Wedding Chapel.

The Q Group Hospitality-owned and -managed location is part of the Thunderbird Hotel complex, boasting a total of 100 rooms. CEO Eduardo Cordova, well-known for promoting LGBTQ+ nightlife in Southern Nevada, will oversee the 28 rooms earmarked for Queen Las Vegas. These designated rooms will cater specifically to the LGBTQ+ community and will feature a unique gaming lounge, restaurant and bar, and nightclub as part of this project.

Cordova expressed his excitement to ensure that Las Vegas has a thriving entertainment district for the LGBTQ+ population, and he noted, "I'm really excited that Q Hospitality Group has secured a perfect location … to create the most LGBTQ+-centric destination in Las Vegas.”

Queen Las Vegas promises non-stop "high-energy drag performances" with a DJ, synchronized to "the party vibe" as "girls, gays, and 'theys' savour brunch or dinner amidst resident queens, scrumptious food selections, endless mimosa servings, and eye-catching craft cocktails, culminating in a state-of-the-art nightclub with over 50,000 bright LED lights."

Thunderbird Remains

The Thunderbird Hotel won't be disappearing anytime soon despite the emergence of Queen Las Vegas. It'll stay put with a smaller room count of 72.

The Thunderbird attracts budget travellers and offers a comfortable stay at just $165 per night with a $17 nightly amenities fee, a more affordable option compared to the $226 all-in rate at the nearby Strat. Despite its popularity among the budget-conscious, the hotel has a 3.6/5 rating based on almost 1,000 Google reviews. Issues pertaining to safety and noise are common; however, guests have praised the hotel's cleanliness, pool access, and dining options nearby.

Queen LV will bring to the table a tiny gaming room previously absent from Thunderbird's offerings. Q Hospitality does currently hold a gaming license for the property's bar-top gaming machines.

Q Hospitality, however, didn't share more information about the scale of Queen Las Vegas' gaming lounge. They just confirmed that there will be a "gaming lounge" in their LGBTQ+ venture.

Fast-tracked opening

Queen Las Vegas administrators are accelerating their opening plan for the LGBTQ+ Las Vegas stay. They're hoping to unveil the trendy hideaway this fall.

A job fair will be held on Friday from 2 to 5 p.m. PST, with positions up for grabs like a general manager, an assistant general manager, bartenders, servers, and kitchen personnel.

Queen Las Vegas' website, queenlv.com, has already been launched, branding the spot as "The Gayest Destination on the Strip," despite being a few miles away from the iconic Strip itself.

In April, The Bent Inn at 207 N. 11th Street near the Fremont Street Experience likewise announced its transformation into "the only LGBTQ+-owned and operated boutique hotel in Las Vegas." The 33 "wittily decorated" rooms designed with an exhilarating LGBTQ+ Las Vegas backdrop are slated to open later this summer.
