FC St. Pauli: Soccer Team in Focus - No probability of obtaining a new Kemlein loan.
19-year-old midfielder Aljoscha Kemlein impressed during his half-season loan to Union Berlin's local rivals. He played in all 17 games, even for over 90 minutes in six of them, and contributed to two goals.
With his performance, St. Pauli may be interested in a longer loan for Kemlein. However, Union Berlin seems less enthusiastic about this idea. In fact, board member Dirk Zingler (59) has stated that Kemlein is expected to play a significant role for their team next season.
A different approach from the board
Zingler's statement is noteworthy since it marks an unusual involvement from the club's management in the team's sporting affairs. Despite this, Kemlein's potential loan extension to St. Pauli appears unlikely.
In the previous season, Union's new manager Horst Heldt (54) and coach Bo Svensson (44) were keen on integrating Kemlein into the professional squad. But before the transfer, Kemlein only played twice as a substitute in the Bundesliga and once against Real Madrid in the Champions League (0:1).
It seems Kemlein's future lies with Union Berlin, who aim to utilize his talents on a bigger stage.
