NFL Live Stream Integrates Gambling with Genius Sports
Genius Sports holds the exclusive right to provide NFL Official League Data to the sports betting industry via the NFL's proprietary Next Gen Stats distribution network.
Genius Sports is a crucial partner for live, real-time statistics, and they also distribute NFL live video streams to sportsbooks. This week, Genius made an exciting announcement: they've now launched BetVision. This product allows bettors to place wagers within the live video player for the first time.
Genius Sports representatives stated that this integration redefines how fans engage with their favorite sports, such as the NFL, through increased interactivity, odds, promotions, real-time statistics, and more.
Currently, BetVision is being rolled out on Caesars Sportsbook, Fanatics, and BetRivers mobile sportsbooks.
Simultaneous Betting and Watching
According to Genius Sports' press release on BetVision, it enables bettors to simultaneously watch and bet on NFL games.
These low-latency live game video streams come with integrated betting odds, bet slips, and in-game betting alerts during breaks in the action to increase relevance, drive engagement, and retain users.
Kenneth Fuchs, Chief Operating Officer and Head of Sports at Caesars Digital (the parent company of Caesars Sportsbook), said this innovate watch and bet experience would improve their platform. "BetVision will be a groundbreaking product," said Fuchs.
The BetVision product is set to evolve with more features during the NFL regular season and playoffs. However, users who don't wish to wager while watching can disable graphic overlays.
NLF Broadcast Streams Limitations
While fans may hope to watch all weekly NFL games on their sports betting apps, this won't be possible. The NFL restricts which games a sportsbook user can stream live on their sports betting app.
Each Genius Sports sportsbook partner will only stream nationally distributed and local, regionalized live NFL games each week. The content depends on the sports bettor's physical location, determined using geolocation technology.
A Clever Move for Genius Sports
In July, Genius Sports extended their data deal with the NFL through the 2027-28 season. The NFL is America's most popular sport for betting, so this contract extension is undoubtedly a smart move.
Though Genius Sports hasn't disclosed how much they paid for the exclusive data deal, financial reporter Todd Shriber reported that the sports betting company likely paid around $1 billion for the initial four-year agreement made in 2021.
The NFL's partnership with Genius Sports is a natural fit as the pro football league holds an 8% ownership stake in the company. Genius Sports is predominantly owned by Apax Partners, a private equity firm based in London.
