Is the European Championship at risk? - New DFB player Pavlovic discloses his ankle injury status.
In the penultimate match of the club season before the home Euro Championships (14th-14th June), newcomer to the DFB Aleksandar Pavlovic (20, no international experience) hurt his right ankle. The Bayern star was taken off the field after just 34 minutes in a 2:4 defeat by Hoffenheim in the Bundesliga.
The recent series of injuries for Bayern's DFB luminaries didn't end there. Serge Gnabry (28, muscle bundle tear in left hamstring) missed the Euros, Leroy Sané (28, inflammation of the public bone) and Jamal Musiala (21, tendon irritation in left knee) have been struggling for weeks. Now, another concern has emerged for one of FC Bayern's DFB stars.
After Pavlovic's return from Hoffenheim on Saturday night, the team doctors conducted a comprehensive examination.
Pavlovic's Ankle: A Safe Return to the National Team?
Despite the initial fears, Pavlovic assured everyone, stating, "It's all good!" The Euro Championships were not in danger. This news came as a relief not only to DFB fans and national coach Julian Nagelsmann (36) but also to Pavlovic himself, who had to cancel his first national team call-up in March because of severe tonsillitis.
Now, free from such health concerns, the German-Serb could finally fulfill his dream of participating in the European Championships. Pavlovic talked about his emotional response to this achievement. He shared that he received a message in the morning, and by evening on RTL, he discovered his nomination had been made public. "A very nice feeling, a very special moment," stated the relieved player.
