Suppose you thought Neuer and Tuchel were inseparable, think again. Neuer said, "Myself and Thomas never went to talk about the coaching job."
And Thomas Müller joined in, "I can't confirm that I approached the board about it."
However, Neuer clarified, "I'm very pleased with how he worked with us. I also thought he could have continued but everyone else made the call, not us. Tuchel and his coaching staff were great in properly preparing for our games. But they made the decision, and we're left with the consequences."
Just for the record, Neuer added, "We had good chemistry with the team and coaching staff since our first game against Lazio Roma, and it seemed we were building on that. Even though it's not up to us, I believe that if he had stayed, we could have had a successful season together."
And finally, Neuer emphasized, "After coaching team's departure, we'll need to show a drastic change in attitude for next season."
